Sophie joined Impact Toolbox as a co-op student in September 2023 while completing her Bachelor of Management degree at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO). She first connected with Segun while working with him as the president of Enactus at UBCO, where she thoroughly enjoyed their collaborative partnership.
Driven by a passion for making a positive impact in the community, Sophie developed an interest for the non-profit sector through her extensive volunteer work with organizations such as Centre Culturel Francophone de l’Okanagan (CCFO), Central Okanagan Community Food Bank, Helen’s Acres Community Farm, Little Bits Therapeutic Riding Association, and the University Hospital Foundation. She chose to join Impact Toolbox because its mission aligned with this passion, where the organization equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to successfully launch their own social enterprises.
Sophie initially worked at Impact Toolbox as the Programs and Partnerships Associate, where she focused on program development and implementation, sales, and grant writing. One of her earliest achievements was collaborating with Segun to launch the organization’s first Social Enterprise Incubation Program (SEIP). Now, Sophie works as the Operations and Client Success Manager, where she oversees internal operations, manages core financial functions, and drives strategic partnership initiatives. Sophie thoroughly enjoys working with the growing team at Impact Toolbox, and is passionate about their shared goal of helping more people create their own social enterprises to positively contribute to their communities.
Looking ahead, Sophie is interested in expanding her knowledge and is working towards pursuing an Oxford MBA through the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. She hopes to build on her experience at Impact Toolbox and gain the skills needed to create a greater impact in the social enterprise sector.
