Problem Statement: Failure to harness the potentials of Africa’s greatest assets; most youths (aged 15 to 35) that could contribute immensely to socio-economic development are unengaged and unemployed.
Our preliminary study of youth engagement in the social sector and African community development revealed that many youths are aware of the positive roles in promoting socio-economic development. They are also beaming with energy and ideas but lack the foundational knowledge of the development sector, management skills and growth opportunities. Existing solutions are often fellowships, short training programs, funding programs, traditional incubators, and accelerators. These interventions primarily seek already viable ventures and entrepreneurs with decent track records. They require clarity and management skills that most of the booming young population lacks. More so, many of these existing solutions primarily offer onsite opportunities with limited scale and reach.
Impact Toolbox is filling this gap and harnessing the African youth demographic dividends by democratizing learning opportunities and empowering young people with the skills to transform their social change ideas and passion into viable ventures that generate revenue and employment opportunities while addressing critical socio-economic challenges in their communities. Our mandate is to put as many youths as possible at the forefront of innovation and socio-economic development in developing countries, starting from Africa.
